Marubeni Corporation, JERA Co., and Squadron Energy, a subsidiary of Australia's Minderoo Group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding a joint feasibility study for the establishment of an LNG import terminal and gas supply project in New South Wales, Australia.

Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund received two binding offers for the acquisition of 66% of the Hellenic Gas Transmission System Operator S.A.’s share capital. HRADF currently owns 31% of the Hellenic Gas Transmission System Operator, while HELPE owns 35%.

On February 8, 2018, the US Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration issued a Corrective Action Order to Sabine Pass Liquefaction, LLC, an LNG export facility in Cameron Parish, Louisiana. On January 22, 2018, workers discovered a release of LNG from Tank S-103.

As of now, India has four terminals receiving LNG and imports 20 million tonnes of the  fuel a year. However, during the course of the next seven years, India plans to build eleven more terminals. If that happens, India will increase its capacity to 70 million tonnes per year.

Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions, along with Sumitomo Chemical, Sumitomo Electric Power Co, Sumitomo Joint Electric Power, and Shikoku gas, will build an LNG terminal at Sumitomo Chemical’s plant in Ehime prefecture in Japan. In the future, a new joint venture company will be create called Niihama LNG and the construction of the LNG plant will begin.

Total Marine Fuels Global Solutions and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines signed a long-term charter contract for a large LNG bunker vessel of 18,600 m³, to be delivered in 2020. The ship will operate in Northern Europe and will be the first ever capable of supplying large quantities of LNG in one single bunkering operation.

LNG Canada announced that it has notified two of its four potential engineering, procurement and construction contractors, TechnipFMC plc and KBR, and the partnership of JGC Corporation and Fluor Corporation that they have been shortlisted for the company’s proposed LNG export facility in Kitimat, British Columbia.

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic informed earlier this week that the construction of an LNG terminal on the island of Krk in Croatia can play an important role in the European energy policy. Croatia wants to launch the project as soon as possible, in order to beat the deadline for its completion, which is 2019.

Port of Gothenburg informed that a construction of an LNG facility is under way at the Port. The facility will create new opportunities for LNG-fueled ships that call at the Gothenburg Energy Port. It will start operations during 2018. LNG will arrive by trailer or in containers, and will be distributed via a 450-metre vacuum-insulated cryogenic pipeline to the quayside.

South Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries has tentatively received a US$500 million order to construct At-Shore LNG, a natural gas liquefaction facility in Canada. Under the agreement, HHI will realize a front-end engineering design for the hull of the ASLNG and build the LNG liquefaction facility for Steelhead LNG Corp.
