ClassNK announced the release of the fourth version of its Guidelines for Gas Fuelled Ships. The new guidelines provide comprehensive, up-to-date information on key design features relating to bunkering, hull structure, fire safety, and explosion prevention measures for gas fueled vessels.

The pilot for the bunkering of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) via the Truck to Ship method has been successfully launched in the port of Vlissingen. Bunkering of this renewable marine fuel emphasises port authority Zeeland Seaports’ objectives to reduce overall emissions.

The port of Frederikshavn announced that the EU-financed LNG Bunkering Project 'The Nordic Maritime Hub' project has been officially launched in Denmark. The project consortium, consisting of Port of Frederikshavn, Kosan Crisplant and Stena Line, will meet the demands of the modern maritime sector by improving the port access facilities, establishing shore side power supply to be used by e.g. Stena Line’s ferries, and by establishing bunkering facilities for alternative fuels.

Russia's Gazprom and Belgium's Fluxys have signed a framework agreement to cooperate on developing the small-scale market of liquefied natural gas in Europe, to include construction and operation of LNG receiving terminals, LNG bunkering infrastructure and LNG filling stations.

The Gasum subsidiary Skangas and the Lyse Group have signed an agreement concerning the sale of the Risavika LNG production plant. The Risavika production plant has an annual production capacity of 300,000 tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG), and the volume of its tank is 30,000 cbm. The acquisition also includes the LNG marine bunkering facility.

The GAINN projects focus on identifying the optimal solution for ports to provide LNG bunkering in the EU. The projects are to include engineering studies on adapting ships to reduce their emissions to "desired" levels, pilot tests to retrofit and improve various types of vessels, and actions to retrofit or build new vessels that comply with this framework.

GAZPROM Germania bunkered a ship with LNG for the first time in the port of Rostock, Germany. The M.V. Greenland, a 110-metre cement carrier operated by the Norwegian shipping company KGJ Cement AS, was the vessel bunkered in coordination with the shipping agent Sartori & Berger

The US Maritime Administration announced the availability of a report that quantifies methane slip and fugitive emissions from using liquefied natural gas (LNG) for vessel operations and bunkering. The study, completed in partnership with the University of Delaware and the Rochester Institute of Technology, builds upon earlier work identifying life cycle emissions associated with LNG use using a “well-to-hull” analysis.
