DNV GL signed a memorandum of understanding with Kongsberg aiming to boosting digitalization in the shipping industry and improve customer benefit and ease. As there's an increasing number of providers offering digital solutions, ship owners could gain many benefits from data infrastructure standardization and access to business ecosystems connecting all relevant digital solutions or services.

Kongsberg Maritime is part of a new collaboration scheme, along with DOF, SINTEF Ocean and NORCE, aiming to decrease fuel consumption and GHG emissions for complex offshore operations, while also streamlining fleet-wide maintenance.

Kongsberg Digital has signed a contract to deliver two new K-Sim Full Mission Bridge simulators at the Royal Australian Navy's HMAS Watson Bridge Simulator Facility in Watsons Bay, Sydney, Australia. The project is added to Kongsberg’s service delivery contracts with the RAN, which includes multiple shiphandling and engine room simulators delivered at training facilities across the country.

At the first SAFETY4SEA Conference in London, Leif Pentti Halvorsen, VP Products, Kongsberg Digital, explained how a firefighting simulator can become an advanced tool to increase the realism in training to realistically conduct practical exercises to demonstrate and assess competence that is described in the STCW.

After obtaining the European Commission's approval, Kongsberg Maritime, with parent company Kongsberg Gruppen has completed the acquisition of Rolls-Royce Commercial Marine (RRCM), on April 1. Officially now part of Kongsberg Maritime, RRCM will operate under the Kongsberg brand and the Kongsberg Maritime legal entity.

Kongsberg Maritime, Bureau Veritas and offshore service provider Bourbon have announced the successful testing of a new solution for DP (Dynamic Positioning) system performance and redundancy audits, which is a first in the maritime industry. The 'DP Digital Survey' application acquires information directly from the DP system and delivers it to auditors through a secure cloud infrastructure.

Kongsberg Maritime conducted a a tailored DP (dynamic positioning) emergency scenario training course for SAIPEM's employees at the Kongsberg Maritime training centre in Kongsberg, Norway. SAIPEM decided to put all their pertinent crews through the course. Overall the series consists of ten courses.

Kongsberg and KPMG collaborated to advance cyber security solutions for the industry's operations. In the future, the partners expect the industry to adopt new digital solutions, which would have a major impact on operations and current business models in the maritime sector. 

Mr Peter Due, Director Autonomy, Global Sales & Marketing, Kongsberg Maritime highlights that embracing the future with technology is imperative for shipping more than ever before. Given that there is more acceptance towards automation, he says, the regulatory challenges for autonomous ships need to be addressed.

Kongsberg Digital and GasLog inked an agreement for Kongsberg to deliver an LNG simulator package designed to enhance safety and operational training for GasLog’s crews. The simulators will be installed in GasLog’s Technical Management HQ in Piraeus, Greece.
