Volunteers on Sea-Watch 3 face prosecution for rescuing migrants

Italian interior minister Matteo Salvini, has accused the crew of Sea-Watch 3, a migrant rescue vessel, of 'criminality' for rescuing 47 maritime migrants in the central Mediterranean. For the time being, the Minister considers charges for the crew for 'favouring illegal immigration'. Also, the crew has been prevented from leaving the boat, or local waters, by Italian minister.

APM Terminals increases rail connectivity for its terminals

APM Terminals reports that its new rail connections between a number of deep-sea terminals and the hinterland has made the transmit of products faster and safer, while in the meantime decreases the environmental impact. APM Terminals Pipavav, one amongst India's multipurpose ports, accomplished a rail connection to its Kanpur Inland Container at the end of 2018. Migrants onboard Sea-Watch accept food after refusing eating

Sea-Watch, after being stranded at sea for up to 17 days reported, through Twitter, episodes of people refusing to eat. Yet, on December 8, Sea-Watch gave an update, stating that people started eating again. According to the rescue vessel approximately 49 migrants stranded off the coast of Malta, started eating again after refusing since no European ports offer them a safe port.

EIB approves EUR 195 million for Ports of Rome and Lazio upgrade

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has approved a loan of EUR 195 million to support the upgrade of the Italian Ports of Rome and Lazio as per the Port Authority’s multi-year investment plan. The approved loan will cover the financing of the extension of the Port of Civitavecchia, about 60 km north-west of Rome, and the construction of a new seaport for freights and passengers in Fiumicino, 20 km west of the capital.
