The bulk carrier 'Strategic Explorer' ran aground on January 21 on Delaware river, which is located in Wilmington USA. The vessel is, for the time being, anchored after its unmooring. The vessel was anchored after its unmooring and placed in Wilmington from January 17. The vessel was refloated with the help of at least two tugs on January 22, at around 06.00 hours (UTC).

The livestock carrier Wardeh, which was anchored off Mersin, Turkey, drifted aground on January 15, because of a storm. Due to the storm, the city waterfront was flooded as well. At the time of the incident, the ship was carrying two crewmembers, who the Turkish Coast Guard is trying to evacuate them.

A fishing vessel was grounded on Hawksbury Island, Australia, during the recent passing of Tropical Cyclone Penny. As it had been drifting, AMSA started an operation to secure the vessel in order to not pose a risk on shipping lanes. The Coral Knight located the vessel and used an emergency wreck marker buoy weight as an anchor.

The US Coast Guard refloated the 958-foot bulk carrier 'JSW Salem', after it ran aground about 2.5 miles east of Virginia Beach, Thursday morning. The refloating became feasible with the rising tide and the RB-M crew escorted the ship to an anchorage about 1 mile off Virginia Beach. 

Salvors on the Norwegian Coast Guard vessel KV Svalbard are preparing to remove fuel from the trawler Northguider, which ran aground in the Hinlopen Strait, on 28th December, with 14 crew on board. Salvors hope that on January 10 they could be able to leverage the good weather in order to remove as much fuel.

The US Coast Guard responded to a grounded vessel in the Lower Mississippi River near New Orleans, on Friday, January 4. The UK-flagged Anglo Alexandria had grounded in the Mississippi River at mile marker 3.5. The Mississippi River has reopened after the refloating of the bulk carrier.

According to the USCG, the 308-foot Chinese-flagged commercial fishing vessel, Ou Ya Leng No. 6, was grounded on Taka Atoll in the Marshall Islands. The 24 members of the crew were rescued by a U.S. Coast Guard HC-130 Hercules crew which arrived on January 2 in the area to help. The cause of the incident remains unknown. 

The 52 meter long vessel 'Northguider' ran aground in the Hinlopen Strait, on 28th December, with 14 crew on board. The vessel begun taking in water and the Captain called for help. After than, two helicopters rescued the crew. The Northguider had 300,000 litres of diesel oil.
