The passenger vessel Galápagos Majestic ran aground at the north coast of Santiago island in the Galapagos Archipelago, Ecuador, during the morning of May 31st, with 26 people on board. The vessel’s hull was breached in the bow area and started to list to starboard side.
As Guardia Costiera posted, its crewmembers began removing fuel from the Turkish cargo vessel called ‘Efe Murat’ off Bari, Italy. Up to now, there have been no reports concerning pollution. Yet, it is alleged that the vessel has been holed in several places and is taking on water.
The Turkish cargo ship Efe Murat, ran aground on a breakwater off Bari, Italy, continued listing since the incident on February 23. Up to now, there are no reports for water pollution. Yet, there’s a possibility that the 37 tonnes of oil aboard the vessel cold easily lead to fatal environmental results.
The video, published by the HM Coastguard, depicts coordination rescue attempts after the 180-metre bulk carrier ‘Kuzma Minin’ dragged her anchor and grounded off Cornwell, UK, in the early morning hours of Tuesday. The ship was carrying 18 Russian crew, while there was no cargo onboard.
Gaslog Saratoga, an LNG vessel under the Bermuda flag, grounded on the 10th of November on Dermata bay in Heraklion, Crete. The coastguard came to the rescue to help all the crew members immediately. Heraklion’s Hellenic Coastguard commanded the non departure of the LNG vessel until it was given a class certification addressing its security to sail.
A cement carrier ran aground on the west coast of Iceland on Saturday, November 3 because of the heavy waves and weather conditions. The crew and the pilot controlling the carrier were rescued by a helicopter. The grounding of the ship had as a result the breach of the carrier’s hull and an oil spill.
The aerial footage depicts the Turkish cargo ship ‘Arslanbey’ which ran hard aground on a Greek beach on the island of Evia, on Wednesday. The Panamanian-flagged vessel was en route from Amaliapolis to Istanbul, carrying 14 crew members and no cargo onboard, when it went ashore on Kanatadika beach.
The Hellenic Coast Guard called in some help from the U.S. Navy on Saturday to assist in the rescue of crewmembers from a grounded Turkish-flagged containership MV Yusuf Cepnioglu at Mykonos Island in the southern Aegean Sea.
