Port of Piraeus benefits from China-Greece cooperation

Port of Piraeus is for the time being the second largest port in the Mediterranean Sea. After COSCO's enter in the port, its annual throughput capacity was increased from 0.68 million TEUs to 4.15 million in 2017. Mainly, the growth, the port of Piraeus has experienced in recent years, is the result of the cooperation between Greece and China, based on the Belt and Road initiative.

Greece hauls wrecked vessels from Gulf of Elefsina

Greece hauls the remains of cargo ships through the water, listing to one side with a rusting hull exposed  in and near the Gulf of Elefsina, an industrial area of shipyards and factories near Greece's major port of Piraeus. Now Greek authorities have begun to remove the ships, some of which have been there for decades, saying they are both an environmental hazard and a danger to modern shipping.

Greek ro-pax plugs into first STS facility in East Mediterranean

Ro-pax 'Fior Di Levante' has plugged into the first shore power facility in the eastern Mediterranean at Killini port in an inauguration ceremony on December 20, 2018. The cold ironing facility was developed within a European co-funded programme to allow the port of Killini in Greece to limit air pollution, while paving the way for other Greek ports to become emissions-free hubs in the eastern Mediterranean region.
