A gas pipeline fire was reported near Port O'Connor, Texas, on Tuesday evening, according to data provided by the US Coast Guard. Watchstanders received a mayday call from the vessel 'Jonathon King Boyd', who reported the vessel was on fire after hitting a gas pipeline while conducting dredging operations.

The DFDS Ro-Ro cargo ship "Finlandia Seaways" suffered a fire in its engine room in April 16 in the English Channel, while heading to Rosyth UK, from Zeebrugge Belgium. One crewmember, who was in the engine room when the fire broke out, was injured and was transported to a hospital in the UK.

One worker is missing after an offshore drilling vessel caught fire off Sarawak, in Malaysian waters, South China Sea, in the morning hours of 17 April.  According to initial reports, at about 3am, an explosion occurred in the vessel's engine room which led to the fire.

On Friday 13 of April, at 6.30 am (local time), a fire broke out in the sauna in the living quarters of the Goliat FPSO. The fire was quickly extinguished and no one was injured. As Eni Norway said, all safety procedures worked appropriately, and the situation is now normalised. Goliat is the world’s most northern oil platform.

NTSB released a report about the the vehicle carrier Alliance St. Louis. The vessel had began from Port Arthur, Texas, heading to Jacksonville, Florida, when a pipe plug on the fuel pump for the main engine’s no. 6 cylinder came loose, causing fuel spray onto the engine’s hot exhaust gas pipe manifold. The atomized fuel ignited, causing fire.

The Standard P&I Club issued a master’s guide to raise awareness of fire risks on ferries. This type of ship presents particular risks due to the cargo onboard: Cars, lorries and refrigerated containers, all of these have combustible material and their own fire hazards, something which a ship’s crew cannot easily control. 

Indonesian state-owned energy giant Pertamina took over the responsibility for an oil spill off Balikpapan, which caused a fatal fire, on 31st of March. The company had initially denied involvement on the incident, but it said Wednesday that the spill was caused by an underwater pipeline that cracked during its clean up operations.

Two people dead and one injured was the aftermath of a fire involving the anchored bulk carrier 'Ever Judger' and some fishing vessels, while at eastern Kalimanta, Indonesia, Makassar Strait, on 31st of March. All ship crew were evacuated. The two are believed to be fishermen caught in the blaze. Another one reportedly suffered serious burn injuries.

Fire broke out in a cargo hold of the bulk carrier "Golden Eclipse", which was docked at Civitavecchia, Italy, on March 28. The vessel was offloading coal, and about 2500 tons of coal were found in the hold in which the fire erupted. Firefighters arrived on the scene of the incident, trying to put out the fire, while also making sure that there are no smoldering spots left inside the ship.

'Maersk Honam' will eventually be towed to Port of Jebel Ali, Dubai, where cargo will be off-loaded. The estimated time of arrival is in approximately two weeks, according to MSC. Based on the details to date, most containers located in front of the accommodation area are damaged by fire, heat or the water used to fight the fire.
