A consortium of Danish transportation companies has formed a first of its kind partnership to develop an industrial-scale production facility to produce sustainable fuels for road, maritime and air transport in the Copenhagen area. 

The Danish government unveiled a six-track climate action plan to substantially lower its CO2 emissions in the coming decade. The plan includes creation of the world's first energy islands. The climate action plan foresees concrete actions in order to ensure a 70% CO2-reduction by 2030 from 1990 levels. These include: Energy islands with offshore wind turbines Green fuels and Power-to-X (PtX) Energy efficiency in buildings Green heating by district heating or electric heat pumps Green energy and energy efficiency improvements in the Danish industry Climate neutral waste sector by 2030 The government estimates that the climate action plan can reduce CO2 by two million tonnes. However, in order to reach the ambition of a 70% reduction of CO2 by 2030, a total reduction of just below 19 million tons is needed. One of the central tracks is construction of energy islands, making the country the first in the world to shift from individual offshore wind farms to energy islands. The green electricity from the energy islands will either be used directly or converted and used sectors that cannot use green electricity directly. The Danish Government is temporarily closing the country's borders and is bringing military forces to help fight the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. In light of Italy's example, which remains the first country of Europe with the most confirmed cases and deaths as the live map shows, the Prime Minister said they have to do everything they can to ensure they "get through this situation in a different way."

Denmark launched a new initiative in boosting women's presence in the Danish maritime sector and supporting diversity, as Danish Shipping, reported that the first 14 companies will sign a charter that obliges them to actively focus on gender equality, called "Charter for more women in shipping".

According to reports, Denmark is proceeding with its plans to construct an artificial island, acquiring power from offshore wind farms of up to 10 gigawatts of capacity, more than enough to supply all households, as part of efforts to meet ambitious climate change targets.

A team of tugboat masters just finished a training programme in Denmark as part of a strategic sector cooperation between Denmark and Ghana. The training provided the tugboat masters with new tools on how to perform tugboat missions in the Port of Tema.

A new project will develop an intelligent drone, which will capable of recognising over 99% of the possible errors that may take place on vessels when they undergo a Safety Inspection. Innovation Fund Denmark has invested DKK 11.8 million in the project. Drones with Artificial Intelligence aim to deliver more accurate and objective results. 

During the One Conference in Hague the Government of the US, Denmark and the Netherlands shared their vision on sharing a global, open, interoperable, reliable, and secure Internet and stable cyberspace, and commitment to continued collaborative efforts in enhancing cyber security in the maritime sector.
