RoRo equipment contract for Damen

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has secured a contract from Dutch shipbuilding group, Damen Shipyards, for the design and delivery of key components for RoRo access equipment for two 80m ice-class RoPax ferries destined to operate in Canada. Each of the new ice-class ferries will be equipped with MacGregor bow doors, a bow ramp/door, a stern ramp, shell doors and a hoistable car deck system The investment in these new vessels is part of the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Government's vessel renewal programme. The first ferry is scheduled for delivery in 2015 and will operate on the Fogo Island and Change Islands service. The second is scheduled for delivery in 2016 and will operate on the Bell Island service. The ferries will each be equipped with MacGregor bow doors, a bow ramp/door, a stern ramp, shell doors and a hoistable car deck system. They are designed for operation in heavy ice conditions and will be able to carry up to 200 passengers and 60 vehicles. MacGregor's RoRo experts have supported naval architects Fleetway and Knud E Hansen with design input for the cargo access equipment throughout the project's development phase. Kongsberg unveils new detection and environmental monitoring system

Leak detection and environmental monitoring within the offshore renewables and oil and gas sectors are a key focus for Kongsberg Maritime at Oceanology International 2014, with world launch of a sophisticated new approach to subsea monitoring. The Modular Subsea Monitoring-Network (MSM) is a flexible solution deployable on projects of all types and scale and is designed to offer continuous monitoring of the subsea environment and alerting of events such as oil and gas leakages from subsea installations, pipelines and risers. The first MSM systems will be delivered in 2014. "The global demand for energy challenges the offshore oil and gas industry to push the boundaries and seek resources in extreme environments. Increasing environmental awareness within the public and industry bodies and more enthusiasm within the industry itself to minimise environmental impact is driving new requirements for effective monitoring and safe process control systems. With the MSM we are meeting these requirements in an straightforward, modular package, meaning that the same core framework can be used regardless of the project or location," explains Sören Themann, Managing Director Kongsberg Maritime Embient GmbH. The MSM is built on a foundation of field proven technology including KONGSBERG cNODE for underwater acoustic positioning and data ...

Rolls-Royce opens new marine customer training centre in Brazil

To better support marine customers in South America, Rolls-Royce has opened a new training centre in Brazil, to cater for customers operating the large number of vessels with Rolls-Royce systems that work in country's deep water oil and gas fields. The centre is located at the existing Rolls-Royce Marine Services site in Niteroi, just outside of Rio de Janeiro. It will provide a wide range of training programs, initially in support of winch and dynamic positioning (DP) operations - in which satellite technology automatically controls a vessel's propulsion system to maintain position in heavy seas. Paulo Rolim, Rolls-Royce, Country Manager - Marine, Brazil, said: "The provision of training to our customers in Brazil is critical in ensuring their ability to maximize the value and full potential of the equipment and systems onboard their highly complex vessels. "Getting optimal performance from the latest DP systems and deck machinery requires hours of hands on training, and doing so in a safe and cost effective training centre helps ensure crew members are better equipped to meet the real life challenges they face when out at sea, in often challenging conditions." The training concepts, course materials and equipment are based on those used at ...

CO2 reporting: new functionality on CMA CGM eBusiness platform

CMA CGM has issued a press release to remind customers that it provides them with the opportunity to obtain their own carbon footprint for each booking on a door-to-door basis in multimodal & multi-carrier mode. CO2 emission is automatically available in the "shipment details" section once transportation is completed. Future developments should enable to devise reports with variable criteria (such as reported period, specific services/zones, group subsidiary, etc) in order to provide all customers with personalized CO2 dashboards. CMA CGM new CO2 reporting is in full compliance with French legal requirement, French Grenelle Law II which sets the obligation to provide CO2 information to the beneficiary of a transportation service. For years, CMA CGM Group had been developing its own CO2 reporting system to monitor the emission of its fleet of cellular ships. Through its active participation in the Clean Cargo Working Group, it contributed to the development of the official calculation methodology which is now the reference in the shipping industry.  In the outbreak, I was straightforward with you propecia before and after has changed my being. It has become much more fun, and now I have to run. Just as it ...
