Japanese Jera and French EDF Trading Limited announced the signing of a non-binding agreement for an LNG optimisation joint venture  through JERA Trading Pte. Ltd.), to address uncertainties of LNG demand in Japan and Europe and to improve competitiveness of global LNG market.

IMO announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation, to support an environmental project in Southeast Asia that aims to help seven countries to protect the marine environment from shipping operations.

Iran is set to export its first LNG cargo at the end of 2018, something that originates from the creation a floating liquefaction project in the Persian Gulf waters, local media reported.

International Container Terminal Services informed that it has ordered 16 hybrid rubber tired gantries at the Manila International Container Terminal, in a bid to further reduce carbon emissions.

The Japanese and Indonesian governments are exploring a plan to supply power to Indonesian islands through ships that generate electricity using LNG. This is expected to be the first ever instance of full-scale LNG power generation at sea.
