The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has published its Monthly Piracy Report for the month of October.

Two actual incidents of armed robbery against ships (one CAT 3 and one CAT 4) in Asia were reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 21st – 27th November 2023.

Two actual incidents of armed robbery against ships (one CAT 2 and one CAT 4) in Asia were reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 14th - 20th November 2023. 

Over the past week, no incident of piracy and armed robbery against ships in Asia was reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 8th – 13rd November 2023.

One actual incident of armed robbery against ships (CAT 3 incident) in Asia was reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 31 October - 7 November 2023.

ReCAAP Information Sharing Centre (ISC) provided an insight into the incidents reported in Asia during January-September 2023 reporting a 37% increase in incidents of armed robbery and discussed security concerns of vessels transiting the Straits of Malacca and Singapore (SOMS) with maritime stakeholders, during a recent dialogue.

One actual incident of armed robbery against ships (CAT 2 incident) in Asia was reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 24th and 30th October.

Three actual incidents of armed robbery against ships (two CAT 3 and one CAT 4) in Asia were reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 17th and 23rd October. 

Three actual incidents of armed robbery against ships (one CAT 2, one CAT 3 and one CAT 4) in Asia were reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 10th - 16th October.
