Two incidents of armed robbery against ships (one CAT 2 and one attempted) in Asia were reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 11th and 15th January 2023.

Released on 11th January 2024, the annual Piracy and Armed Robbery Report of the ICC International Maritime Bureau (IMB) raises concern over the first successful Somali based hijacking since 2017.

Two incidents of armed robbery against ships (both CAT 3) in Asia were reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 2nd and 10th January 2024.

According to ReCAAP ISC, a total of 100 incidents of ARAS were reported in Asia in 2023. There was no piracy incident reported in Asia for 2023.

Two actual incidents of armed robbery against ships (both CAT 4) in Asia were reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 12th – 18th December 2023.

One actual incident of armed robbery against ships (CAT 4) in Asia was reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 5th - 11th December 2023. 

One actual incident of armed robbery against ships (CAT 4) in Asia was reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 28 November - 4 December  2023.
