The provider of global marine services Svitzer, announced that has obtained Port Towage Amsterdam (PTA). That means that from January 2020, Svitzer is expected to take PTA’s fully ownership. For the records, PTA is a joint venture between Svitzer, Iskes Towage and Salvage which was formed back in 2014.
“At Svitzer we are committed to improving and strengthening our service offering, particularly for our customers in the busy ports of Amsterdam and Ijmuiden. That’s why this acquisition of PTA is a sensible move as we continue to serve this dynamic and important market” said Kasper Nilaus, Managing Director, Svitzer Europe.
Under the Svitzer’s agreement, the company will further manage more than 30 employees, involving crew from Iskes Towage and Salvage. At the same time, nine shore-based staff from PTA will also enter in the Svitzer family while seven Iskes’ tugs are going to be taken over by the company.
With a total infrastructure solution spanning vessels, crew and shoreside staff already in place in Amsterdam, customers should anticipate no disruption to their service. We look forward to continuing the same flawless service delivered by PTA over the last six years.

Concluding, Svitzer is estimated to take 100% control of PTA’s operation from January 2020 with Fred Jeeninga, Cluster Managing Director of Svitzer Continental Europe, be the leader of this new operations in Amestrdam.
