bound4blue has completed the installation of four 26-meter high eSAILs on the MV Atlantic Orchard, a juice carrier chartered by Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) and owned by Wisby Tankers AB, Sweden.
The eSAILs installation, completed in less than a day per unit, is expected to provide fuel consumption and emission savings of around 10%, depending on trading routes. According to bound4blue, at 26m in height, the four eSAIL units are the largest suction sails ever built and installed on a vessel
This marks the third installation of bound4blue’s suction sails in 2025. The eSAILs technology was selected after an assessment by LDC’s shipping decarbonisation team and a third-party review by Lloyd’s Register.
eSAILs open an easy, proven and economically beneficial pathway to greener operations for a wide variety of shipping segments, including unique vessel types such as juice carriers. This specialist project is a prime example of how our technology meets customer needs
