SAFETY4SEA is pleased to announce the shortlisted nominees for the 2017 SMART4SEA Awards following an online nomination process.
The notification procedure was initiated few months ahead of the 2017 SMART4SEA Conference with an open invitation to the industry stakeholders to propose nominations online. After SAFETY4SEA Editorial Staff’s review of nominations in terms of validity, the shortlisted nominees are now available for online open vote at http://www.safety4sea.com/2017-smart4sea-awards/
SMART4SEA Excellence Award
The SMART4SEA Excellence Award is to be awarded to any organization that demonstrated technological excellence and performance above average in any aspect of smart maritime activity.
Nominations shortlisted for the SMART4SEA Excellence Award include the following companies:
- BMT SMART has been nominated for providing pioneering fleet and vessel performance management systems with the use of smart data for measurement, reporting & monitoring vessel performance and validating benchmark results.
- Furuno has been nominated for entering into the business field of shipborne satellite communication solution under the brand name “SafeComNet” for assisting in achieving optimal ship operation as well as implementing crew welfare.
- Inmarsat has been nominated for its high-speed satellite broadband service, Fleet Xpress, which changes crew lives onboard through greater connectivity with family& friends, video on-demand, social media, online training, telemedicine and measures to shift the administrative burden back to shore.
- Maersk Maritime Technology has been nominated for developing tools to measure and improve vessel performance such as data collector Maersk Ship Performance Service (MSPS), the Vessel Performance Onboard Analyser (VPOA) and the ECO Voyage planning tool.
- Rolls-Royce has nominated for leading the futuristic Advanced Autonomous Waterborne Applications Initiative (AAWA) project which unveils a vision of how remote and autonomous shipping will become a reality, changing the current landscape of the shipping industry.
SMART4SEA Innovation Award
The SMART4SEA Innovation Award is to be awarded to any organization that that sparked, realised, or significantly contributed in any innovation fostering smart shipping.
Nominations shortlisted for the SMART4SEA Innovation Award include the following companies:
- Kongsberg Maritime has been nominated for collaborating with leading government and academic organizations to develop and test technology for unmanned ships. Kongsberg has been integral to the opening of the world’s first official test bed for autonomous shipping in Norway.
- Laros by Prisma Electronics has been nominated for being a powerful tool that collects, processes and transmits real-time data from any type of vessel imminently to the administration HQ’s through a smart-sensors’ wireless network, providing complete diagnosis, prognosis & early warnings.
- MarineTraffic has been nominated for providing a database which includes details of vessels’ positions and movements and other related information about global marine traffic while offering at the same time a series of benchmarking services.
- MONALISA 2.0 – STM Validation has been nominated for introducing smart solutions for sharing information data resulting in efficient, safe and environmentally friendly maritime transport in the EU while at the same time reducing administrative burdens.
- North of England P&I Club has been nominated for supporting ‘Be Cyber Aware at Sea’ campaign which is a global maritime and offshore industry initiative to raise awareness of the increasing maritime cyber threats to international shipping, ports and offshore operations.
SMART4SEA Technology Award
The SMART4SEA Technology Award is to be awarded to any organization that that sparked, realised, or significantly contributed in any innovation fostering smart shipping.
Nominations shortlisted for the SMART4SEA Technology Award include the following companies:
- ABS Nautical Systems has been nominated for its Vessel Performance Tool; a comprehensive software solution which uses a ship-specific performance model tracking KPIs to support environmental monitoring & compliance including EU MRV regulation for CO2 emissions.
- Danaos has been nominated for offering its DANAOS WEB ENTERPRISE SUITE which provides technological know-how into a flexible and user-friendly maritime ERP Software for the facilitation of secure & reliable interconnectivity onboard and ashore through any satellite system.
- Nanophos has been nominated for providing solutions by taking advantage of the nanoparticles benefits for the end user to common problems such as fouling growth, sea water corrosion, incident heat radiation and accumulation of salt deposits.
- SpecTec has been nominated for its AMOS Maintenance & Procurement (M&P) software which provides wide control of a company’s maintenance, inventory and procurement processes, minimising the risk of downtime while maintaining tight control over its budgets.
- Transas has been nominated for its new simulation concept THESIS (Transas Harmonised Eco System of Integrated Solutions) which facilitates ship, shore and ports to access real-time operation critical data simultaneously that allows for decision-making and responsibility to be shared.
The online voting process has started at http://www.safety4sea.com/2017-smart4sea-awards/ where participants can submit their votes online up to Friday the 20th of January 2017. The winner will be the one received the most online votes and the results will be announced during a prestigious award ceremony at the final session of the 2017 SMART4SEA Conference & Awards.
