The dual-fuel liquified natural gas (LNG) pure car and truck carrier (PCTC), Emden, has been delivered to SFL by Guangzhou Shipbuilding International.
On September 12, the SFL under the supervision of John Fredriksen received the vessel from CSSC’s GSI, with a capacity of 7,000 units, according to a statement. Emden is built with a dual fuel propulsion system that also uses natural gas (LNG), with a maximum range of 15,000 nautical miles.
According to China Daily, Lin Qiuxiong, Emden’s construction manager, noted that engineers and workers from GSI have successfully installed and commissioned roll on equipment, controlled thin plate deformation, controlled hull structure accuracy, and an LNG dual fuel propulsion system.
Emden’s dimensions are 200 metres in length, 38 metres in breadth, 8.6 metres in draught, and a planned speed of 19 knots. It can hold around 7,000 automobiles and has 13 decks.
