On October 24, an altercation between two crewmembers at the Port of Long Beach ended in one stabbing the other, according to information by the local police.
Namely, the Long Beach Police Department received a report of a fight at the 1000 block of the port’s Pier G. The officers responded to the scene, finding a victim with a stab wound on his upper body.
However, the wound was not life-threatening and the man’s condition was stable, with paramedics bringing him to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
The officers also arrested a suspect in the stabbing, which was one of the victim’s crewmates. The seafarer has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon and is being held pending bail.
The attack started with a dispute between the two men and escalated, Long Beach police said in a statement.
