A sailor lost his life on July 29, onboard a chemical tanker, the Navig8 Axinite. The incident took place 40 nautical miles north of Morlaix.
The ship had left Rotterdam to arrive in Ukraine, via the Black Sea, on the 9th August.
According to local media, it was 6:50 p.m. when the alert was given reporting an injured person on board. When the French Navy arrived at the scene, the medical team declared him dead.
An investigation is now open to find out the reason for the seafarer’s death.
Information reports that a pressure tube exploded in front of the sailor.
