A robber attacked and stole fuel from a bulk carrier that was anchored at China’s Caofeidian Anchorage, on February 10. Namely, the duty officer on board the ship notice that a hose was connected from a tank. The alarm was raised and the robber lowered the hose and escaped.
Specifically, a bulk carrier was anchored at Caofeidian Anchorage, in China. While being there, the duty officer on board saw from the bridge wing a hose connected from an open DO tank manhole to a small unlit barge alongside the ship.

The alarm raised, and duty the AB was instructed to investigate the incident. After hearing the alarm, the duty officer noticed a robber lowering the hose and escaping in the barge.
As IMB informed, upon sounding the tank, it was reported that DO had been stolen and the incident was reported to VTS Caofeidian.
In its latest monthly report, ReCAAP ISC informed that the situation of piracy and armed robbery against ships in Asia in January 2019 has improved compared to the same period in 2018.
Specifically, a total of three incidents of armed robbery against ships were reported in Asia in January 2019, compared to 11 incidents in January 2018.
All three incidents reported in January 2019 occurred onboard ships anchored; one at Caofeidian anchorage and one at Jingtang anchorage in China; and one at Ciwandan anchorage in Indonesia
