With two incidents of siphoning of ship fuel/oil reported in October 2014, the total number of such incidents hasincreased to 11 this year so far. The ReCAAP ISC is concerned and will continue to work closely with the littoralStates in monitoring the situation and to encourage increase in surveillance and enforcement. Although the increasein number of incidents in October 2014 was primarily because of a rise in number of petty thefts, such trend needto be monitored carefully and appropriate countermeasures undertaken by ship owners/masters and the relevantenforcement agencies to prevent increase in number and severity of incidents. |
