Lost contact with the vessel northeast of Malaysia
On 13 Oct 13, the ReCAAP Focal Point(Thailand) reported to the ReCAAP ISCthat the owner of Thailand-registered oilproduct tanker, Danai 4 had lost contactwith the vessel. The owner’s lastcommunication with the vessel was on 10Oct 13 at or about 2000 hrs atapproximately 17.78 nm northeast ofTanjung Penawar, Malaysia (1 35.48′ N,104 34.08′ E) as shown on the picture below.
Danai 4 departed Singapore on 9 Oct 13 and was scheduled to anchor off Vietnam fortransferring of fuel on 12 Oct 13. The tanker was laden with marine gas oil and has 15crew onboard.The ReCAAP ISC, upon receiving the information had alerted the ReCAAP Focal Points inthe region, and the regional maritime authorities including the Malaysian MaritimeEnforcement Agency (MMEA) to assist in locating Danai 4.
