Part of the strategic partnership’ programme
This week saw the 6th Ministerial roundtable event between senior industry figures and Government Ministers, as part of the strategic partnership’ programme.
A Maritime UK delegation, including the UK Chamber CEO, Head of MNTB and Head of Communications met with Shipping Minister Stephen Hammond, Business Minister Michael Fallon, head of the MCA Sir Alan Massey and others to discuss issues pertaining to skills and employment.
Significant progress was made in a number of key areas, especially on the UK Chamber’s campaign to include ratings within the tonnage tax core training commitment. An announcement from Government will be made in due course giving further details.
Maritime UK’s strategic partnership with Government is now in its second year, and has already produced a number of significant changes – including an increase in SMarT funding from 12m to 15m.
