On 30 October, chemical/products tanker Global Lake suffered an engine failure in the Akbas area of the Canakkale Strait, according to reports.
The vessel which suffered the engine failure was then towed after the incident to the Sevketiye Anchorage area, where repairs were carried out as it is reported.
The products tanker is sailing under the flag of Turkey. It is 112.70 meters long, 17.6 meters wide, and has a gross tonnage 5,424. It was en route from Samsun to Aliaga in ballast. After the vessel was unable to restart its main engine, it requested assistance.
Per the reports, the Canakkale Ship Traffic Services Centre dispatched the tugs Kurtarma 3 and Kurtarma 4 for the vessel’s assistance. The Global Lake was then towed by the Kurtarma 3 to the Sevketiye Anchorage Area, with the Kurtarma 4 acting as escort.
