Hong Kong recently published a merchant shipping information notice in order to to mention the newly published Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Oil Pollution) (Amendment) Regulation 2016 which will implement the latest requirements of Annex I of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL).
The Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Oil Pollution) (Amendment) Regulation 2016 will come into operation on 1 October 2016.
The Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Oil Pollution) (Amendment) Regulation 2016 applies to Hong Kong ships wherever they are and ships within the Hong Kong waters. The Annex attached to this Note lists out the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) resolutions which are dealt with by this amendment exercise.
