The port of Rotterdam welcomed the President of the Poland Republic, Mr Andrzej Duda, throughout his stay in Netherlands for the 75th remembrance of the liberation of the South of the Netherlands.
The Rotterdam’s port and the Polish Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority shaked their hands for a more intensive cooperation, in the presence of the Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management, Cora van Nieuwenhuizen.
The two partners signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in order to promote trade and sustainable development of port operations.
The signatories of this document will focus on the consultancy, hinterland connections, strategy and digitalization. Occasioned by this partnership, the ports also discussed joint training on the integration of port communities.
The cooperation between those two ports existed a long time ago, since over 4 million tonnes of freight are shipped from Rotterdam to and from Poland every year. They are both very strong partners. Furthermore, the value of trade between the Netherlands and Poland was 11 billion euros in 2008 and this increased to 22 billion euros in 2018.
In light of Rotterdam’s recent MoU, the port inked another agreement in early September with the Panama Canal, boosting their shipping relations and promoting international trade between EU and the West Coast of South Africa.
Concluding, Rotterdam signed an MoU will sign two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with India, appointed an office and also supported the establishment of a maritime university that will partner with Rotterdam’s institutions, marking the port’s joint initiatives with Indian parties.
