Following the fatal incident of the crane collapse in Samsung Heavy Industries’ shipyard, on May 1st, that killed eventually six workers, South Korean police raided several offices of the company,on May 4th, in order to conduct controls on safety measures.
The first confirmation indicated five people dead, but then another worker died due to extent injury, raising the number of dead to six.
Specifically, the police sent about 30 investigators at five offices of the shipyard, who seized workbooks and manuals on safety regulations and education, and are going to analyze the findings, according to yonhap news.
The authorities will focus on possible communication errors, working conditions at the shipyard and mechanical flaws, that may have resulted to the accident.
The company pointed out that this was the first police control to occur in its offices and expressed its intention to cooperate with the authorities in order to determine the causes of the incident.
