ABC2 News reports that urban pirates have started weekly meal deliveries to eighteen men who have been stranded on a ship in Baltimore for nearly two months. These men are the crew of the Newlead Granadino, a tank ship that experienced an engine problem on its way to US. The ship was detained at the Port of Baltimore after the PSC examination found it unsuitable for the voyage.
Now the men can’t leave because of engine issues, and the crew, a number of them from the Philippines, can’t come on shore because they don’t have visas. In addition, if they were to abandon the vessel they would forfeit their pay.
