Brazilian Petrobras and US based ExxonMobil announced that they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), regarding the formation of a strategic alliance to jointly identify and evaluate potential business opportunities.
The MoU was signed in Rio de Janeiro by president of Petrobras Pedro Parente, president of ExxonMobil Upstream Ventures Brad Corson and president of ExxonMobil Exploration Company, Stephen Greenlee.
Petrobras and ExxonMobil will evaluate areas of common interest across all sectors of the oil and gas production value chain, including opportunities for collaboration in exploration, production, gas and chemicals both inside and outside Brazil.
This agreement enhances the relationship between the two companies and emphasizes on growing this relationship in Brazil.
In September, Petrobras and ExxonMobil jointly acquired six offshore blocks in the Campos Basin in the Brazil National Agency of Petroleum’s 14th tender round.
Furthermore, MAN Diesel & Turbo renewed its service agreement with Petrobras for maintenance of 20 gas turbines and compressors on its four platforms, in the Atlantic Campos Basin.
