The passenger tour ship named ‘Bei You 25’ ran aground on March 23, at the Western coast of Weizhou island in the Gulf of Tonkin, in China. The vessel was transferring 770 passengers. Yet, no injuries were reported.
Specifically, the Chinese-flagged vessel ran aground in the afternoon of the 23rd in China.
It was, allegedly, decided not to evacuate the passengers because of the darkness as it was afternoon. In the meantime, the windy conditions weren’t ideal for the passengers’ evacuation, as well.
As the passengers remained onboard, additional food and water supplies were delivered.
After the incident, the refloating operations that took place continued until March 24.
After the successful salvage, the vessel was taken to port, and is now anchored in Beihai port.
Concluding, no injuries were reported and all passengers were safe.
