In light of the coronavirus situation, Ocean Network Express recently decided to apply a congestion surcharge of $1.000 per container for all the reefer cargoes arriving into Shanghai and Xingang from 15 February and onwards, as for regulated trades the effective date will be 14th March 2020 until further notice.
Following the slow inbound container pick-up activity that coronavirus has resulted, Xingang and Shanghai are already facing a serious shortage of available reefer plugs, ONE reported.
In consideration of this situation, ONE may need to adjust the original transportation plan for reefer shipments to the Chinese terminals mentioned above. In such cases, this may result in the discharge of reefer containers at an alternative port without prior notice.
…the company further announced.
Moreover, ONE is boosting customers to change their destination of shipments to other alternative ports, especially for time-sensitive cargoes such as fresh, chilled commodities.
Except from the Ocean Network Express, CMA CGM has decided to apply a reefer charge of $1.250 per container cargo, which will be set into force from 1st of March.
