Annual cargo throughput exceed 1 billion tonnes at Ningbo Zhoushan port in east China’s Zhejiang Province in 2018. With this, the Port became the world’s first to surpass such volume.
According to Xinhua news agency, the annual container throughput at the port achieved a record of 26 million standard containers and is ranking among the top three ports in the world.

During 2018, the port initiated three new sea routes, raising its total to 246. In the meantime, it has cooperated with major international shipping alliances, such as the 2M Alliance and the Ocean Alliance.
The Port also saw growth in its sea-rail transport services, which link the port with other parts of China. Namely, last year, the port started nine new sea-rail transport routes and China’s first double-deck container sea-rail cargo service.
As for the sea-rail transport services themselves, the port handled over 600,000 standard containers in 2018. This is a year-on-year increase of over 50%.
Ningbo Zhoushan Port is considered the busiest port in China.
