The Associated British Ports (ABP) announced the construction of a new vehicle terminal at the Port of Southampton. This project is part of its latest phase a £50 million investment by ABP.
The new £15 million multi-storey facility will be built in the Eastern Dock and will provide storage for a further 3,000 vehicles.
ABP said:
This investment will continue to strengthen the port’s position as a global hub for automotive and is expected to be completed in 2019.

The Port of Southampton is the UK’s hub for automotive with 11 lines undertaking 110 calls to 52 ports in 40 countries every month. The new vehicle terminal will help increase the port’s contribution to the regional and national economy and keep Britain trading, Alastair Welch, ABP Southampton Director, highlighted.
In the beginning of the year, Associated British Ports announced that 2018 will be another record-breaking year for the Port of Southampton, after 2017 saw the largest vessels in the world coming to Southampton and more than one million containers handled by the port.
