China Classification Society (CCS) Singapore Branch has entered into a research cooperation agreement with Weichai Singapore Pte. Ltd., the Maritime Energy & Sustainable Development Centre of Excellence, Nanyang Technological University, and Pinnacle Marine (PINNACLE) to develop and test B100 biodiesel for ships in Singapore.
According to CCS, this joint project will utilize a continuous operation test of 1,000 hours in Singapore’s port waters. The testing aims to evaluate the performance of B100 biodiesel and gather emission data, contributing to advancements in the shipping industry’s efforts toward net-zero emissions.
As Singapore’s first long-term ship test of B100 biodiesel, it will provide crucial performance and emission data for long-term engine use, while also informing best practices for onboard storage, operation, and refueling.
Through this collaboration, CCS aims to strengthen its technical services in the biodiesel sector and contribute to the broader goal of reducing emissions in maritime operations.
The signing ceremony featured notable attendees, including Zhou Naixiang, Deputy Secretary of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee and Governor, and Cao Zhongming, Chinese Ambassador to Singapore.
Representatives from the participating organizations, including Chen Zili (CCS), Xue Hua (Weichai), Yuan Jinhui (MESD), and Lin Feng (PINNACLE), formally signed the agreement.
