MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company announced that it will enhance its trade links between Costa Rica and the Northern Europe, by adding a new direct call from the Port of Moin. Thus, its MSC Katya R. container ship, that called the Moin Terminal, has become the largest to ever call at Moín Terminal, Costa Rica.
The visit, which took place on June 16, 2019 as part of a new direct call to the Port of Moín, was described as the launch of a ‘new era in cargo shipping for the port’ and exporters using its facilities.
Moreover, MSC’s service will provide larger container ships with more capacity to carry refrigerated produce on transatlantic routes to European and Asian markets.
MSC Katya R. will serve on behalf of the company’s Ecuador Service, a direct shipping line from Moin to key ports in northern Europe; The direct ports of call from Moin are: Antwerp, Rotterdam and Bremerhaven with connections to destinations throughout Europe.
Costa Rican companies will gain advantages from this shipping line, exporting food and other commodities in containers.
In addition, MSC highlights that the majority of Costa Rican exports of agricultural products are temperature controlled, so it’s important to be transmitted in refrigerated containers. Therefore, MSC provides advanced reefer technology that partners and shippers need, to make sure that the products reach their destination in perfect state.
