Eni and MSC Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance sustainability and energy transition efforts in their operations.
The partnership will explore the use of lower-carbon energy solutions, including LNG, bio-LNG, HVO biofuels, and renewable lubricants for MSC’s logistics and cruise fleets. They will also evaluate renewable energy options to decarbonize MSC’s facilities. The collaboration includes joint initiatives in logistics and intermodal transport, such as integrating agro-industrial activities to produce biofuel feedstocks and innovating transport solutions for HVO biofuels.
There are many parts of our economic and industrial systems where we must act to reduce emissions. The only way to succeed is by uniting the skills, resources and technologies across a range of stakeholders, for a widespread intervention in each of these key areas.

The agreement also promotes circular economy practices, including using renewable and recycled materials on fleets, waste management, and redeveloping decommissioned Eni assets.
Additional areas of focus include platform decommissioning, joint R&D projects, and partnerships within the Open-es framework to enhance sustainability across the value chain.
Eni has been one of these partners for many years and this MoU is a welcome and natural evolution of our relationship. We look forward to working more closely with Eni as we broaden and deepen our approach to sustainability and decarbonization across the MSC Group of companies.
