The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore issued a marine notice informing of a temporary suspension concerning a bunker tanker. The vessel is suspended from the Port of Singapore from June 27 until further notice.
Specifically, MPA Singapore suspended the vessel following an enforcement check on the bunker tanker operated from the company ‘Inter-Pacific Petroleum Pte Ltd’.
During the period of the licence suspension, Inter-Pacific is not allowed to operate as a bunker craft operator in the Port of Singapore.
MPA Singapore, additionally, published a circular reminding to all ships supplying and receiving bunkers in the Port of Singapore that bunkering related oil spills generally take place because of operational lapses and could be avoided if all necessary precautions are taken.
Thus, the Authority presented 17 ways according to which the bunker suppliers-receivers could avoid an oil spill.
