To provide propulsion and propeller training
MAN Diesel & Turbo has opened its 11th PrimeServ academy in Frederikshavn, Denmark, to provide propulsion and propeller training, offering both general training and specialised courses.
The new Academy will focus on four-stroke propulsion plants, aft-ship solutions, propellers and control systems. Particular product ranges covered are L27/38 and L21/31 engines, Alpha AMG gearboxes, Alpha CPP Mk3 and Mk5 propellers, and Alphatronic 2A and 2000 and SaCoSone control and monitoring systems.
Specialised courses will range from general understanding of manoeuvring functionality and handling for navigators, through optimised operation, maintenance and repair actions for engineers and superintendents, to in-depth knowledge, fine-tuning and troubleshooting training for specialists. Sessions range from basic, standard training programmes and tailor-made training sessions held in Frederikshavn with simulator drills, hands-on full-scale products and test-rig facilities to training performed on-site at a shipowner premises or onboard a specific ship.
Poul Knudsgaard – head of PrimeServ four-stroke Denmark and Frederikshavn site manager said, in his opening speech: “Training is a prerequisite for optimising the performance of a plant and safeguarding customers’ investment.
