In February, the Special Cargo team at Maersk Line in Rotterdam loaded a tugboat weighing in at 350 metric tons – equalling the weight of 130 grown elephants! – onto Magleby Maersk headed to Singapore. This shipment broke the previous weight record of a 310 tons generator from Norfolk to Busan.
“Handling a break bulk piece like this requires team-work and planning throughout the organisation from Sales to Operations,” says Patrick van Lavieren, Regional Head of Special Cargo in Europe, Middle East and Africa for Maersk Line.
