KN Klaipėda liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal has completely stopped using paper in its operations since early February, while the submission of the reports required for the operations is from now on carried out only through digital methods.
In fact, Klaipėdos nafta launched back in 2019, the Digitisation and Innovation Strategy, putting on top priority to digitilize operational processes and significantly reduce paper consumption.
In order to achieve that, experts and information systems’ specialists at Klaipėda LNG Terminal, joined their forces and created data to exchange solution.
For the records, the terminal’s employees are using this data and manage to do their work without using a single piece of paper.
We call this achieved goal one more “first time” in the industry of floating LNG terminals. Relinquishing of paper in the operations of LNG terminal is not only a proof of our determination to create an innovative and environmentally responsible organization, but also a means of reducing operating costs thus bringing additional benefits to gas consumers.
…said Rytis Valūnas, Director of Law and Administration of KN and Head of KN’s Digitization and Innovation Strategy.
Moreover, the relinquishing of paper in the operations came so as to improve the terminal’s efficiency and upgrade its equipment.
At the same time, is expected that this decision will further drop the LNG operating costs, which are partly impact the final gas price, by almost 28.7 thousand euros per year.
Digitization, increase of process efficiency, cost reduction are important steps towards the strategic goal – to create an attractive and commercially efficient LNG service center in Klaipėda, creating value for the environment and natural gas consumers of the whole region by 2030.
…as KN marked.
Concluding, through this paperless initiative, the amount of paper that KN is using in its activities, dropped by 44%, as it is estimated that 89 trees have been preserved through this initiative.
