Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) carried has now established a system for certifying the amount of CO2 reduction from marine biofuels and issuing certificates, in association with ClassNK.
To remind, in a notable endeavour, K Line successfully conducted a test operation of the Abion Bay, a supramax bulker under its operation, utilising marine biofuels. This initiative, which took place last year, was made possible through the collaboration of JFE Steel Corporation and Sumitomo Corporation.
K Line, following the successful operation, has officially certified the quantifiable reduction in CO2 emissions achieved during the test operation. In recognition of this accomplishment, the company has been issued a certificate affirming the amount of CO2 reduction achieved when compared to the use of heavy oil.
