JAXPORT welcomed a record number of cruise passengers during the past year, with 199,899 passengers setting sail from Jacksonville. In addition, there are several improvements underway at the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal.
JAXPORT and Carnival Cruise Line have signed a long-term agreement to extend Carnival cruise service from Jacksonville through 2021 and potentially 2027.
As part of the new agreement, many enhancements are underway at the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal, including a new parking area with easier access to the terminal, an upgraded VIP Lounge, and a better boarding platform allowing passengers to enter the ship on the Promenade level.
Beginning May 2019, the upgraded 2,056-passenger Carnival Ecstasy will continue Carnival Elation’s year-round four- and five-day cruise program.
JAXPORT Chief Executive Officer Eric Green, stated:
Cruise is a benefit to all of Jacksonville as visitors get a taste of what our region offers and then choose to return again and again.
