The European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) issued an infographic, describing lessons learned from accidents through the European Marine Casualty Information Platform (EMCIP). In this infographic EMSA presents accidents that took place on fishing vessels.
As the infographic shows there were a total of 2404 incidents involving fishing vessels, while 196 investigations were completed.

Of these incidents, the most concerning causes are the following:
- Unsafe positioning onboard;
- Use of lifejackets;
- Supervision and communication;
- Operating beyond safety limits.
