The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways (MoPSW) of India will provide 30% financial support for the development of green shipping and digitization.
According to local news, Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, made five key announcements on Monday at the end of the ministry’s second Chintan Shibir in Munnar, Kerala. One of these announcements included the development of a single-window portal to facilitate and monitor river and sea trips.

The second day of the Chintan Shivir was dedicated to improving port administration, standardization, and cargo handling share at major ports. The implementation of multiple measures to stimulate coastal shipping, as well as the building of coastal berth infrastructure under the Sagarmala program, has resulted in a significant rise in cargo transit by coastal shipping, as per the statement.
To remind, India’s goal is to become energy independent by 2047 and Net Zero by 2070. Increasing the use of renewable energy across all economic sectors is important to India’s Energy Transition in order to attain this aim. Green hydrogen is regarded by India as a hey option for facilitating this shift.
