The infographic below outlines that gender equality and women’s empowerment have implications for growth and development. A reduction in the gap in participation rates between men and women by 25% has the potential to increase the GDP in Asia-Pacific by as much as US$ 3.2 trillion.

However, there are some barriers which prevent women from getting leadership positions in business, such as:
- Managing word and family responsibilities;
- Gender stereotypes;
- Masculine corporate cultures.
Despite this, companies that have gender diversity in their management teams have better financial results and business outcomes in general, compared to companies with less diversity.
