According to reports, a fire broke out on the Pemex-operated offshore platform, located in the Southern Gulf of Mexico on January 7, Tuesday; The fire injured three workers who were transferred to a Mexican state to receive medical care.
Specifically, the fire broke out on the Akal-C6 platform in the Bay of Campeche. According to the company’s twitter statements, the incident was confined to the west part of the platform, as personnel onboard the platform, as well as of the Mezquital and Atlantis vessels, was sufficiently trained to extinguish the fire.
Yet, the fire injured three personnel who were taken to Ciudad del Carmen, Mexican State, to receive medical care.
Pemex also added that, after the fire was extinguished, the platform continued normal operations, concluding that they will further investigate the cause of the incident..
In a similar incident, back in October, an offshore worker was injured on board the Taqa’s Tern Alpha platform in the North Sea, something which led to a temporary production shut-down.
