A fire broke out in the crew cabins of the bulk carrier ‘Albany Sound’, while the ship was berthed at North Carolina Port, Morehead City, US, on April 14. According to information, the fire affected only the crew cabins and not other parts of the ship.
‘Albany Sound’, owned by Pacific Basin, suffered a fire as it was alongside in North Carolina on the US east coast, in the morning of April 14.

After the fire started, Morehead City Fire fighters, helped by other departments, went on the incident scene and put out the fire by the afternoon of the same day.
As sources report, the fire only impacted the crew cabins, and not any other part of the vessel.
What is more, the overheating of a crew member’s personal electronic device is allegedly the cause of the fire.
‘Albany Sound’ had arrived to Morehead City from Rio Haina port, Dominican Republic, on April 12.
Currently, the bulk carrier is berthed at the port.
