The European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) hosted a training on IMO Port State Control Procedures from 20 to 21 June 2018, at its premises in Lisbon, under the Black and Caspian Sea regions Project. This was the first training tailor-made by EMSA especially for the Project’s beneficiaries which are non MoU on PSC countries.
The overall objective of the event was to provide the participants with an overview of the international legal framework on PSC and specifically of the IMO Resolution A.1119(30) Procedures for PSC, as well as of the related EU legislation and the differences and commonalities between several Memoranda on Port State Control.
The practical, interactive part of the training dedicated to acting PSCOs was based on case scenarios covering the different aspects of the PSC inspection. The training was also a good opportunity for the beneficiary countries to share experience on Port State Control issues, EMSA added.
