China Merchants Industry Holding (CMIH) and DNV GL signed a strategic cooperation agreement during Nor-Shipping last week focusing on advancing shipbuilding in the gas carrier, offshore and special vessel segments. The two companies will work together to optimize construction processes and quality control, in order to develop vessels that meet the varying requirements of these markets.
Gui Ming Zhu, Deputy General Manager of CMIH said that this agreement offers the opportunity to his company to share market intelligence and technical expertise with DNV GL for the development of next-generation vessels. Torgeir Sterri, Regional Manager Greater China at DNV GL – Maritime agreed that is agreement is a win-win for both companies to drive new developments in the gas carrier, offshore and special vessel segments.
In particular, the cooperation agreement covers collaborations on classification issues, regulatory questions and extends into research and development, as well as training.
