Proposal focuses on transparent economy and increased quality in port benefits and services
Danish Ports are generally satisfied with the EU Commission’s proposal for a port package that adapts EU rules according to the Danish model. The interest organization notes that there is a focus on transparent economy and increased quality in port benefits and services.
“Danish Ports are satisfied with guidelines rather than rigid rules but are disappointed that not all port services are included”, writes consultant in Danish Ports, Bjarne Løf Henriksen, in a comment to the Commission’s proposal.
“This means, for example, that the guidelines for terminal operators’ contracts and the working conditions of port workers has been laid on the grindstone. There is also a lack of clear rules for state aid to ports. The guidelines were promised by the European Commission in 2007, but it has not happened yet”, says Bjarne Løf Henriksen.
“The freight corridor is extended to run through the whole of Jutland, as Norway in the first draft was not counted. It’s a good thing for Denmark.”
